Robert Lewandowski reveals exactly how Liverpool were able to beat Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich suffered a humbling home defeat as they were on the receiving end of a Liverpoolmasterclass on Wednesday.

The German giants were dumped out of the Champions League after a 3-1 defeat as Jurgen Klopp got his tactics spot on at the Allianz Arena.

It was a miserable night for the Bundesliga side – and nobody was more frustrated than star striker Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish frontman often found himself isolated as Virgil Van Dijk kept him quiet throughout the game.

And having scored just once in both fixtures, Lewandowski slammed their tactics and felt the Reds were able to take full advantage of their conservative approach.

“Of course, we knew it would be a tough game,” Lewandowski told Viasport.

“But in both games I think we played too defensive.

“We didn’t try to push forward to create situations – in the first game and today.

“We didn’t risk much, we were playing at home it was our game but that’s why I think Liverpool beat us.

We were playing too deep, we didn’t take risks, I don’t know why.

“We tried to push Liverpool but offensively sometimes it was two against four players and that’s why we didn’t do much. ‘

“I have a lot of duels today, it was very difficult because I was alone.

If you are alone against two or three good players it’s very difficult to play.”

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are one of four English sides in the quarter-finals alongside Manchester United , Manchester City and Tottenham .

Barcelona , Ajax, Porto and Juventus complete the final eight clubs chasing Champions League glory with the competition reaching the latter stages.
